Intrinsic Imaging, an FDA audited, ISO 9001:2008 certified and GAMP 5® medical imaging core lab specializing in providing imaging core lab services for clinical trials, announces today that it was recently awarded an international Phase III clinical trial for the treatment of severe traumatic brain injury (TBI).

This international multicenter clinical trial consists of over 1000 patients at more than 100 international investigator sites. During this trial, Intrinsic Imaging will provide imaging core lab services including, but not limited to, the acquisition of the images from the investigator sites and the complex neuroradiology interpretation of the images to determine the effect of the treatment on the progression of intracranial pathology.

Intrinsic Imaging’s team of more than sixty board-certified diagnostic radiologists possess sub-specialization in all therapeutic areas. The central nervous system (CNS) team dedicated to this trial consists of 8 board-certified neuroradiologists with deep expertise in the diagnosis, prognosis and progression of traumatic brain injuries.

“Intrinsic Imaging’s capabilities in evaluating central nervous system disorders include, but are not limited to traumatic brain injury, stroke evaluation and intervention, tumor imaging, degenerative disorders of the brain and spine, preoperative and perioperative planning and CNS neurointervention.” said Dr. Jim Dix, Medical Director, Neuroradiology at Intrinsic Imaging. “Intrinsic Imaging’s team has specialized training and expertise in managing clinical trials for TBI as well as all disorders affecting the central nervous system.”

Traumatic brain injury is a devastating clinical condition that contributes to a substantial number of deaths and cases of permanent disability. Each year over 1.5 million individuals in the United States and approximately 10 million people worldwide suffer a TBI and it has now has become one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in children and young adults. Typical etiologies include motor vehicle accidents and falls in adults, sports related injuries in children and young adults, and nonaccidental trauma in infants.

“Due to the significant global impact of traumatic brain injury on patients and their families, there is an increasing development of new therapeutics in this field.” said Todd A. Joron, BSc. MBA, President and Chief Operating Officer, Intrinsic Imaging. “We are very pleased to contribute our operational and therapeutic expertise towards this international Phase III clinical trial for the treatment of severe traumatic brain injury.”
